Payroll Supervisor / Senior Payroll Analyst

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor / Senior Payroll Analyst to own end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-state hourly workforce. This role is a hands-on individual contributor position—ideal for someone who enjoys digging into the data, identifying issues before they become problems, and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance across a complex, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Process full-cycle payroll for approximately 2,000 hourly employees across 20 states and 60 locations
- Review, audit, and validate timekeeping data; identify anomalies, trends, and potential errors
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to manual punches, missed punches, and timecard exceptions
- Process deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings accurately and timely
Multi-State Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
- Manage payroll tax filings and reporting across multiple jurisdictions
- Stay current on changes in payroll regulations and apply updates as needed
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Use Excel extensively for payroll audits and analysis, including:
- Pivot tables
- VLOOKUP / HLOOKUP (XLOOKUP a plus)
- Text to Columns, TRIM, and other data-cleanup functions
- Generate payroll reports and provide insights to Finance and HR leadership
- Identify patterns or irregularities that could indicate timekeeping or payroll risks
Systems & Collaboration
- Process payroll using ADP Workforce Now
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions
- Partner closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to improve processes and controls
Process Improvement
- Recommend and implement improvements to payroll controls, reporting, and efficiency
- Actively look for issues before they surface—this role requires more than basic processing
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of payroll experience in a multi-state, high-volume environment (retail, restaurant, hospitality, or similar industries strongly preferred)
- Proven experience processing payroll across multiple states simultaneously
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, text functions required)
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now
- Highly analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of payroll
- Comfortable working in a casual, fast-paced, and candid team environment
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- CPP certification a plus, not required
