Job Description:
The Patient Access Specialist serves as a key point of contact for patients throughout the registration and intake process. This position focuses on delivering a positive patient experience while ensuring accurate documentation, insurance validation, appointment coordination, and financial screening activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous healthcare, customer service, administrative, or front-desk experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to navigate multiple computer systems while assisting patients
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with insurance verification, patient registration, or scheduling is a plus
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is beneficial but not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist patients by phone and in person
- Coordinate appointment scheduling and updates as needed
- Enter and maintain patient information with a high level of accuracy
- Review insurance coverage and eligibility information
- Discuss payment obligations and available financial options with patients
- Collect required documentation and obtain necessary signatures
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient care workflows
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy standards
- Utilize electronic healthcare systems to document and process patient information
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve patient inquiries professionally
