What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Addison Group?
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Identify, report, and resolve hazards before proceeding with work activities.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on industrial equipment including pumps, valves, piping systems, agitators, fans, blowers, mechanical seals, and related process equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures, identify root causes, and assist in developing effective repair solutions.
- Complete work orders, maintenance documentation, equipment records, and shift reports accurately and timely.
- Support spare parts inventory management by identifying required materials and assisting with procurement planning.
- Install, modify, and repair piping systems and process equipment.
- Follow all maintenance, safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and site operating procedures.
- Perform general facility maintenance including painting, minor structural repairs, insulation work, concrete repairs, and light fabrication.
- Assist with facility grounds maintenance and seasonal snow removal using hand tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
- Experience with rigging, material handling, and common mechanical maintenance practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work including climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and in confined spaces while wearing required PPE, including respirators.
- Strong mathematical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting nights, weekends, and emergency maintenance needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, chemical, or processing environment.
- Experience with boilers, cooling towers, and water treatment systems.
- 24-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment drawings, and schematics.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and process safety practices.
