The Legal Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal teams, ensuring efficient operation of legal processes. This role involves preparing legal documents, conducting research, managing schedules, and maintaining legal files with accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, format, and proofread estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Assist with probate and trust administration, including preparation and filing of court documents
- Maintain and organize client files, both physical and electronic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and courts regarding case status and documentation requirements
- Schedule client meetings, attorney calendars, and court dates
- Conduct basic legal research related to estate and trust matters
- Track deadlines and ensure timely filings and follow-ups
- Assist in asset inventory, beneficiary designations, and distribution documentation
- Prepare correspondence and maintain professional communication on behalf of attorneys
- 4-5 years of Legal Assistant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw preferred
- Highly polished, organized, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (equivalent experience may compensate).
