Job Description:
A growing organization is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its accounting team in a fast-paced and evolving environment. This position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day receivables operations, customer account management, and cash application activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment with multiple internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply and post customer payments accurately and timely
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies
- Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash transactions
- Generate and review invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collection follow-up efforts
- Investigate and resolve billing issues in partnership with internal teams
- Maintain accurate customer account and billing information within ERP systems
- Support order release processes and resolve account holds as necessary
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations regarding customer account activity
- Prepare documentation supporting receivable transactions and audit requirements
- Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting requirements
- Identify and escalate complex account discrepancies or system-related issues
- Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required
- Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable experience
- Experience working with large ERP systems; JD Edwards experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and data analysis
- Understanding of cash application processes and related compliance practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to diagnose, isolate, and resolve accounting discrepancies effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage shifting priorities
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
