- General Summary**\

## Essential Functions
- Patrols assigned areas of Ada County on foot, on a motorcycle, or in
- Responds to calls and complaints involving fire, automobile
misdemeanors and felonies;
- Interviews suspects, witnesses, and victims, gathers information and
- Secures crime scenes, conducts investigations, gathers and processes
- Works and maintains eligibility to work all shifts, including
as needed or on-call basis;
- Serves warrants and takes person(s) in to custody;
- Testifies as a witness in court in connection with arrests and
- Gives advice on laws, ordinances, and general information to the
- Eligible for transfer among all Patrol Officer positions and shifts;
- Educates public in crime prevention; and
- Administers first-aid when needed.
- Additional Functions**\
- May investigate cases related to civil process, juvenile crimes,
- May be assigned to special assignments as needed; and
- Performs related duties as required.
- Must be a certified Peace Officer or eligible to challenge the Idaho
- Must have at least two (2) years of full-time field experience as a
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- Must be a citizen of the United States:
- Must be able to read, interpret, and memorize large amounts of
operations;
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
- Skill in the peaceful resolution of conflict and diffusing tense
- Skill in safely operating passenger cars, vans, or motorcycles under
- Ability to effect a forceful arrest;
- Ability to hear, listen to, and understand radio transmissions using
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and
- Ability to give accurate and credible testi mony in court;
- Ability to take criticism and verbal abuse from persons without
- Ability to project an image of self-confidence and control;
- Ability to evaluate and recognize potentially adverse or unsafe
