Customer Service Representative – Tax Collector
Location: Sumter County, FL
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:55 a.m.-5 p.m.
Pay rate: $15.21 and up
Ad-Vance Talent Solutions is seeking a Customer Service Representative to support the Sumter County Tax Collector’s Office. This position provides front-line customer service and may perform duties including greeting customers, answering phones, assisting with clerical functions and administering road tests.
IMPORTANT: Candidates must be willing and able to work at any of the four Tax Collector locations — Wildwood, Bushnell, The Villages and Sumterville. No exceptions.
Job Responsibilities
- Greet customers, determine the purpose of their visit and direct them to the appropriate area.
- Provide professional customer service and assist with resolving customer concerns.
- Answer, screen and route incoming telephone calls; provide information and take messages as needed.
- Enter, retrieve and maintain information using computer systems and word-processing software.
- Perform general clerical duties, including researching and retrieving records.
- Prepare and verify receipts, forms, payment-related documents and other office records.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Physically verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs).
- Administer and monitor road tests.
- Operate copiers and other standard office equipment.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- At least one year of general clerical or customer service experience.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the insurance provider.
- Ability to work at all four locations: Wildwood, Bushnell, The Villages and Sumterville.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Strong customer service, communication and basic computer skills.

Candidates should be aware of the following Sumter County Government employment requirements:
