Job Title: Accounting/AP/Data Entry Clerk
Location: Sarasota, FL 34236
Pay: $20.52/hr.
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible office experience with accounting or bookkeeping responsibilities
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to support our finance team with clerical accounting and financial recordkeeping duties. This position is responsible for processing financial documents, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with billing, payments, and account inquiries. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable working with financial data in a professional office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process financial documents such as invoices, billings, purchase orders, requisitions, checks, check requests, tax reports, payments, and deposits.
- Review financial documents for accuracy and completeness before processing.
- Receive, record, and deposit cash receipts.
- Prepare daily cash receipt reports and maintain accurate ledger entries.
- Assign appropriate accounting codes to financial documents and batch totals.
- Enter financial data into accounting systems to generate checks, invoices, reports, and spreadsheets.
- Prepare professional correspondence regarding account status and respond to account inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including billing, invoices, statistics, and donor/client files.
- Assist with maintaining departmental spreadsheets for tracking expenditures and approvals.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Duties are primarily performed while seated with occasional standing or walking.
- May occasionally lift or carry light items up to 25 pounds.
