Estimator (Junior–Mid Level) – Construction / Mechanical
Elgin, IL (On-site)
$80,000–$85,000 DOE
We are hiring an Estimator to join a growing mechanical contractor in Elgin, IL. This is a great opportunity for someone with construction or trade experience who wants to grow into a more advanced estimating role over time. You will work closely with a Senior Estimator and gain hands-on exposure to bidding, takeoffs, and project planning.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and assist with estimates for piping, plumbing, and HVAC projects
- Review blueprints and construction drawings to support accurate bidding
- Partner with a Senior Estimator to develop project bids
- Attend pre-bid meetings, bid openings, and occasional site visits
- Maintain estimating databases and vendor pricing
- Support ongoing improvements in estimating processes and accuracy
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in construction, trades, or estimating
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings
- Experience with material and labor takeoffs
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Interest in growing into a long-term estimating career
- Mechanical, plumbing, piping, or HVAC exposure is a plus (not required)
