Elementary Special Education Teacher: Compass Program

Special Education Teacher – Elementary Position Summary:  We are seeking a special educator to work in our Compass program. The Compass program is part of a K-12 continuum of services. The Compass Program offers students a safe and structured continuum of therapeutic supports and specialized instruction to foster social and/or emotional development across all settings while accessing rigorous academic experiences. The Compass Program explicitly teaches positive self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making to promote independence and personal growth. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Plan effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within and outside the general education classroom; Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of caseload students; Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems; Schedule, prepare for, and chair Team meetings for caseload students; Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs Collaborate with general education and related service staff with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications; Provide ongoing positive communication with parents; Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals Supervise and plan for educational assistants to support students throughout the day Qualifications: Master's degree preferred; Must have a Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs through the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education; Experience with students with behavioral challenges, trauma informed teaching and ASD recommended; Must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about current research-based interventions for children with disabilities; Must possess demonstrated ability to develop positive behavior intervention plans; Experience/training in language-based instruction/dyslexia including Wilson, O-G, Brain Frames, EmPOWER Writing highly desirable; Experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of formal and informal diagnostic assessment and evaluation tools; Excellent writing and communication skills required  Apply online Apply online You can watch our educators talk about working at Acton-Boxborough here: https://youtu.be/TenOhRXzESE You can learn more working at Acton-Boxborough here: https://sites.google.com/abschools.org/joinactonboxborough/home We believe that our students deserve to learn from educators who reflect their backgrounds and  life experiences, and we want our staff to reflect the wide range of student identities we seek to serve. Salary : $55,000 - $105,000
