Schedule: Full-Time, per the school year calendar (approximately 8:30 AM 3:30 PM )Location: Acton-Boxborough School District, MassachusettsPrimary Setting: Elementary School Health OfficeAbout the Position: The Acton-Boxborough School District is seeking a School Nurse to join our school health services team for the 20262027 school year. In this role, you will provide high-quality, student-centered nursing care in a collaborative and supportive environment. The nurse will support studentt student health needs and promote a safe and healthy school community.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Health care- Provide direct service to students, using the nursing process in accordance with current medical practice and nursing standards, relevant statutes, and regulations during the school day.- Manage and control acute and chronic diseases. Carry out policies and procedures for control of communicable diseases in collaboration with the school physician, local town nurses, and the Massachusetts Department of Health.- Provide primary and emergency care to students and staff during the school day.- Serve as a health advocate for students.- Administer and/or supervise the administration of medication in compliance with school policy and state regulations.- Initiate, perform, and oversee all state-mandated programs including immunization surveillance and screening programs.- Maintain comprehensive educational records on the health of each student, including documentation of health office visits, parent phone calls, etc.- Establish health care plans for students with special health care needs and update as needed.
- Safe and healthy learning environment - Encourage compliance with universal precautions for students and staff- Identify unsafe health conditions in the school setting and collaborate with administrators to resolve - Collaborate with school personnel regarding plans for students with special health needs- Participate in safety, crisis, or wellness teams as appropriate Preferred Experience: Experience in school nursing and/or pediatric nursing
