We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Japanese / English Bilingual Accounting Coordinator to join our team in Jericho, NY. The ideal candidate will support daily accounting operations, collaborate with internal teams, and contribute to accurate financial reporting within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment. This is a direct hire, full time and 100% onsite work setting.
Japanese / English Bilingual Accounting Coordinator Key Responsibilities:
- Manage credit control and monitor customer accounts
- Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Assisting with general ledger entries and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Communicate and collaborate with HQ accounting team
- Liaise with local branch offices, operations teams, and branch managers via email and phone
- Learn and utilize internal accounting system to run reports and post journal entries
- Coordinate overseas settlements with international offices and agents
- Assist with financial reporting and support the Accounting Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Japanese / English Bilingual Accounting Coordinator Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Japanese language skill
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., CODA, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), Word, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Experience in freight forwarding or logistics industry is preferred
- Familiarity with CargoWise, Descartes (ONEVIEW), or similar systems
