Our client, a national retail-owned cooperative, is looking for a dedicated Transportation Safety Supervisor to work out of their facility in Elizabeth, NJ. This Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring and managing compliance, safety, accountability (CSA), and performance of drivers on a large scale operation to include: oversight of all U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated paperwork for the fleet; maintaining qualification files in accordance with FMCSA guidelines; Conducting driver safety meetings; Interacting with Dispatch, Fleet Maintenance and Risk Management; Monitoring hours of service (HOS) compliance.
Salary starts at $80,000, commensurate with experience

Expected hours M-F starting at 7am *Flexibility to be available to work nights/weekends and holidays as needed. Stipends provided for additional shifts*
Essential Functions
The core functions of this position include the following:
- Along with HR and other Transportation staff, initiate and maintain all U.S. Department of Transportation mandated paperwork to include; driver qualification file, annual review, DOT physical, Commercial Driver License.
- Monitor and manage driver safety performance such as HOS compliance, DriveCam review and coaching, CSA compliance and ensure all corrective action is taken as a result of roadside inspections.
- Accident investigation, documentation and participate in determining the ruling of preventable or non-preventable, post-accident counselling, refresher training.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by actively monitoring driver's license status, medical certificates and ensure DOT random drug testing quota is met.
- Ensure all equipment meets regulatory requirements (registration, annual inspection, insurance and internal record keeping).
- Interact with dispatch personnel to ensure drivers are always in compliance with all regulations.
- Interact with Fleet Maintenance regarding vehicle inspections, equipment compliance, and damages.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs on safety procedures
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, including incident reports, compliance records, and report writing for internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with management to develop corrective action plans addressing safety deficiencies.
- Provide visual, hands-on training and mentoring to drivers to create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- BA preferred
- CDL license highly desired
- Minimum of 8 years of supervisory experience in Transportation Safety & Compliance
- Working knowledge of FMCSA Rules and Regulations, CSA and HOS
- Working knowledge of Accident Investigation & Reconstruction
- Detail oriented multi-tasker with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and transportation compliance regulations
- Experience with large scale driver operations
- Experience with unions preferred
- Change agent dedicated to accountability and continuous improvement
- Bilingual a plus
