Materials Buyer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to join our Purchasing and Materials team. This role is responsible for procuring materials, components, and supplies needed to support manufacturing operations. The Buyer will work closely with suppliers, production, quality, and accounting teams to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining cost-effective purchasing practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Purchase materials, components, and supplies based on production requirements and inventory needs.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems to generate and manage purchase orders.
• Source new suppliers and negotiate pricing to obtain the best value while maintaining quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Track purchase orders and expedite deliveries when necessary to meet production schedules.
• Communicate with suppliers to resolve shipment, delivery, and material issues.
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to address supplier quality concerns.
• Process supplier returns, debit memos, and material transfer documentation as needed.
• Assist in evaluating and qualifying suppliers to ensure compliance with company requirements.
• Partner with Accounting to resolve discrepancies involving receipts, invoices, and credits.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Agent, Procurement Specialist, or similar purchasing role.
• Knowledge of vendor sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing processes.
• Experience working with ERP and/or MRP systems.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience purchasing electronic components or working within an electronics manufacturing setting.
