We are seeking an experienced Lighting Assembly Supervisor to lead a hands-on production team responsible for assembling custom hospitality lighting and manufacturing lamp shades. This role will supervise a team of 6 employees and oversee daily production, quality, materials, packaging, and project timelines.
The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on leader with manufacturing or assembly supervision experience and a strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily workflow of the lighting assembly and shade production departments.
- Lead, train, and hold a team of 6 employees accountable for quality, productivity, safety, and attendance.
- Assemble and oversee the production of a variety of lighting products, including table lamps, wall sconces, pendants, chandeliers, and other custom fixtures.
- Work with a variety of materials including steel, acrylic, linen, leather, wood, LEDs, and other components.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly diagrams, and installation instructions.
- Review project details to identify required components, hardware, finishes, colors, and materials.
- Coordinate with the Powder Coat Department and other departments to ensure components are properly finished and color matched.
- Inspect incoming parts and completed products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Establish and maintain department quality control procedures.
- Complete and submit required production paperwork, including QC sheets, parts hand-off sheets, packing lists, and side-mark placement.
- Order and maintain inventory of components, hardware, fabrics, packaging materials, and other consumable supplies.
- Safely package, box, palletize, and prepare finished products for shipment.
- Coordinate with the Fabrication Manager and General Manager to establish and maintain project timelines and staffing needs.
- Attend daily fabrication meetings and communicate project updates, revisions, and material needs.
- Monitor department maintenance, housekeeping, and cleanup procedures.
- Stay current on emails and project communications regarding approvals, revisions, updates, preparation, and parts ordering.
- Train employees on wet paint and faux finishing techniques as needed.
- Safely operate a forklift.
- Use basic woodworking skills to construct palletized crates for larger products when needed.
- Work with acrylic materials, including heat-forming processes.
- Create written installation instructions when required.
- Follow applicable UL standards, compliance requirements, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing, production, assembly, or similar environment.
- Working knowledge of lighting components, electrical wiring, electrical drivers, and rectifiers.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan ahead, prioritize work, and coordinate with multiple departments to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to lead a team in a hands-on production environment.
- Basic woodworking skills preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and train others on finishing techniques.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
