Job Title: Full Vehicle Engineer
This role focuses on the design, documentation, and integration of complete vehicle systems, including advanced and autonomous vehicle platforms. You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams to ensure that vehicle designs are accurately documented and fully aligned with physical builds from early concept through production. The position plays a key role in achieving first‑time build accuracy, predictable quality, and a seamless transition across all stages of the vehicle lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Review, validate, and approve Bills of Materials (BOM) for vehicle hardware, including wiring and electrical components.
- Ensure complete and accurate vehicle documentation from early concepts and sketches through prototype and production builds.
- Review Digital Mockups (DMU) and regularly align with design, build, and manufacturing teams to maintain consistency between digital and physical vehicles.
- Serve as the liaison between project management, design engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Participate in cross‑functional design task forces to ensure concepts are fully documented and ready for implementation.
- Track and report design completeness and readiness for upcoming vehicle builds and design iterations.
- Provide consulting and support for design challenges and documentation gaps, helping teams resolve technical and process issues.
- Own and manage the issues tracking and burn‑down process, ensuring timely resolution of open items.
- Create and maintain work instructions, handbooks, and build documentation to support consistent and repeatable builds.
- Support prototype and pre‑production documentation efforts, ensuring all changes are captured and communicated.
- Develop and provide production procedures and assist with production support and training activities.
- Deliver clear status updates and visibility to leadership to support prioritization, decision‑making, and execution across programs.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, BOM structures, and engineering documentation.
- Experience working with CAD systems and Digital Mockup (DMU) environments.
- Experience in full vehicle design, vehicle integration, or automotive engineering.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams in a fast‑paced development environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), or advanced vehicle technologies.
- Background supporting prototype builds, pre‑production activities, or manufacturing launch activities.
- Familiarity with production readiness processes, quality processes, and build validation practices.
- Experience with automotive or related industries, including exposure to SAE or Baja engineering projects.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Portland, OR. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams in a collaborative environment focused on cutting‑edge vehicle and autonomous technologies. The work involves frequent interaction with CAD and DMU tools, prototype and pre‑production builds, and production‑oriented documentation and processes. The environment emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and direct impact on vehicle quality, build accuracy, and overall program success.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
