Job Title: Traveling Superintendent
Job Description
As a Construction Superintendent, you will oversee and coordinate all the activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Your duties will include coordinating subcontractors, performing quality control and safety checks, and providing on-site direction when preparing construction sites.
Responsibilities
- Direct activities of workers concerned with the construction of building projects, agricultural projects such as hog confinements, material storage facilities, and other similar projects.
- Manage contracts and provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects.
- Study specifications to plan procedures for construction based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase, utilizing knowledge of available tools, equipment, and building methods.
- Coordinate scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
- Hold pre-construction, progress, and cost construction meetings as the project progresses.
- Order procurement tools and materials for delivery at specified times to conform to work schedules.
- Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various construction phases to prevent delays.
- Resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce in collaboration with supervisory personnel and labor representatives.
- Collaborate with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
- Write and maintain a daily log of activities on the job site.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and office/project manager/owner, keeping the office informed of concerns and project needs.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure it conforms to specifications and adheres to construction schedules.
- Prepare or receive reports on progress, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules as indicated by reports.
- Direct workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
- Perform and maintain all company documentation requirements including daily reports, daily progress with pictures, JHAs, tool box talks, etc.
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction management.
- Proficiency in commercial construction.
- Skill in subcontractor management.
- Ability to interpret and work with blueprints.
- Experience with ground-up project management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Formal education (2 or 4 year) in construction management preferred.
- 3 years running agricultural construction projects preferred.
- Must be willing to travel; projects could be located in MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, IA, or MN.
Work Environment
The position requires travel to various project locations including MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, IA, or MN. You will be working on construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands. Safety equipment and attire are necessary, and adherence to safety protocols is required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $49.00/hr.
