What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Engineer position at Actalent?
We are seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer who is proficient in employing fundamental principles across various aspects of Highway Design, Utility Coordination, Cost Estimating, and Transportation Engineering. The ideal candidate should be adept at using MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD design software. The role involves producing plans, specifications, and engineer’s estimates for roadway projects for NJDOT, NJTA, PANYNJ, and County or Municipal agencies. We offer hybrid flexibility, end of year bonuses and opportunity to lead a department.
Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in Geometric Design, Design Exception, Roadside Design, including current Guide Rail and Pavement Design.
- Manage MPT, Signing and Striping, ROW, Access Management, Grading, and Permitting.
- Coordinate with Utility Companies for relocations and perform Utility Risk Analysis.
- Produce Utility Schemes of Accommodation.
- Conduct Roadway Drainage Design and 3D Roadway Modeling.
Essential Skills
- Strong design capabilities with MicroStation Inroads experience, including alignments, surfaces, templates, earthwork, and plans and quantity calculations.
- Familiarity with NJDOT Capital Project Procedures, NJDOT/NJTA/AASHTO Roadway Design Manual, and Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.
- Knowledge in drainage, soil erosion, environmental plans, and utilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D software.
- Understanding of MUTCD, NEPA Process, Budget Monitoring, and Primavera Scheduling.
- EIT or PE certification is a plus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
