Job Title: Test Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Prototype/Test Technician to support the development, assembly, and testing of advanced eco-friendly air conditioning systems and related prototypes. This role is ideal for someone with experience in automation, machine assembly, and light electrical work who thrives in a dynamic R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building out the test facility and gain hands-on experience with automated equipment.
• Assemble and test a variety of systems and units, primarily focusing on HVAC prototypes.
• Build test fixtures, jigs, and mechanical frames using various tools.
• Participate in the construction and setup of large-scale test chambers.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical diagnostics on test equipment.
• Assist with copper piping, brazing, and mounting units for testing.
• Maintain a clean, organized workshop and manage tools and equipment.
• Document test results and procedures using Excel, Word, and other tools.
• Perform light electrical work, including wiring, cable routing, drilling, and mounting.
• Collaborate with engineers to support prototyping and iterative development.

Essential Skills

• 3 years of experience in a hands-on technician or machine assembly role.
• Automation, HVAC, or industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with automation or machine building preferred.
• Knowledge of electronics, PLC (no programming needed), bend radius, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with industrial machinery, machining, tubing, weldment, machine design, tolerances, and prototype assembly.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, mechanical design, new product design, and new product development.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfortable working on ladders or elevated platforms to complete test room setup.
• Automation, HVAC, or industrial equipment assembly is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This role is located at the R&D site in Orange, CA. You will assist two engineers in building out the R&D site. The work involves handling AC duct equipment and components, machined components, sheet metal for brackets, and automated equipment. The test rooms are sized at 15x15x15 feet.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
