Job Description

Our Battery Testing Laboratory is seeking a diligent and skilled Test Technician to conduct Battery testing. This role involves charging batteries, setting up test fixtures, and managing the data collection and reporting process. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure precise execution of tests and maintain a safe and organized lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Observe all safety rules pertaining to testing.
• Understand and accurately execute test procedures in the lab, operating precision devices and measuring tools.
• Charge batteries to predetermined levels for tests.
• Inspect and test all thermocouples, load cells, heaters, and other equipment for each test setup.
• Perform tests, collect data, and process video feeds and numerical data to create technical reports.
• Enter data accurately into test log tables.
• Clean the test area, fixtures, carts, and devices in preparation for the next test setup.
• Maintain all equipment including dust collectors, pumps, scrubbers, and chargers, issuing maintenance tickets as needed.
• Ensure the battery testing area is stocked with necessary supplies such as masks, gloves, batteries, and thermocouples.
• Follow procedures to manage solid waste and wastewater.
• Adhere to company's protocols at all times.
• Collaborate with the testing team to design test fixtures and setups.
• Participate in meetings and communicate issues with the team and management.
• Work with vendors and estimate costs for assigned projects.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience with mechanical and electrical equipment in a laboratory, prototyping, or testing environment as a Test Technician.
• An associate degree, BSc, or technical diploma in an engineering or technical field.
• Experience with electric vehicle batteries, specifically lithium-ion, is preferred.
• Experience in electrical-based testing in a lab setting is expected.
• Ability to set up tests, perform tests, and record and report testing results.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in dealing with battery testing and electric vehicle batteries.
• Ability to describe the testing process in detail from past experience.

Work Environment

The work environment includes an office with multiple lab areas and a shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MI.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Plymouth,MI.
