Job Title: Lead Field Engineer

Job Description

As a Lead Field Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the commissioning of building automation systems tailored to each customer. We seek a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused team member who can serve as a role model for other field engineers. You will tackle complex problems, lead training sessions for less experienced engineers, and provide expertise as a product and technical specialist.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
• Serve as the local contact for technical issues, offering effective solutions for complex system challenges.
• Deliver turnkey project solutions for medium to large projects, ensuring proper operation of systems including controls, sensors, and software.
• Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports, and implement time management strategies to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Communicate and document project status and details for customers, providing site-specific training to owners and operators on the complete system.

Essential Skills

• HVAC expertise.
• Proficiency in computer and electrical systems.
• Technician-level skills in installation and commissioning.
• Controls and building automation troubleshooting.
• Field service experience with electronics and oscilloscopes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree, Associate Degree, or Technical/Business School Certificate/Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or related field preferred.
• Proficiency with advanced building automation software such as WebCTRL and installing building automation controls.
• Expertise in TCP/IP networks, including wireless technology.
• Experience with Siemens Insight and Desigo or WebCTRL is ideal.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience and work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.

Work Environment

The position covers the 81 Corridor territory, with an ideal home base in Roanoke or Charlottesville. Candidates must be capable of climbing ladders and lifting items up to 50lbs. Typical working hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with no on-call shifts in the install group.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $44.00/hr.
