System Integration and Test Engineer
We are seeking a detail‑oriented System Integration and Test Engineer to provide first‑line troubleshooting for robotic system issues in both field and internal environments. This role focuses on first‑pass failure analysis, defect triage, and root‑cause identification across hardware, firmware, and software systems. The ideal candidate excels in electrical and system‑level diagnostics, works well with limited information, and communicates findings clearly. This position collaborates closely with engineering but does not involve redesign or hardware repair.
Key Responsibilities
• Review telemetry, logs, and video to identify error signatures and potential root causes
• Perform second‑level diagnostics using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and related tools
• Determine whether issues match known failures or represent new behaviors
• Document root causes or escalate novel issues to engineering
• Validate system interactions across hardware, firmware, and software
• Identify integration‑related failure modes and assist in reproducing field‑reported issues
• Capture new root causes with engineering SMEs and maintain troubleshooting documentation
• Log findings with clear steps, evidence, and outcomes
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong root‑cause analysis and electrical/system troubleshooting skills
• Experience with electromechanical or robotic systems
• Familiarity with 5 Whys, FMEA, FTA, Fishbone, and 8D methodologies
• Hands‑on experience with Ethernet, EtherCAT, CAN bus, PCBA, firmware interaction, motors, actuators, and sensors
• Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, firmware, and software layers
• Experience with Python, Bash, or command‑line diagnostics
This role is onsite and slated to start in the next couple of weeks. Only local candidates will be considered!
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Salem, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
