Job Title: Superintendent – Healthcare (Light Renovation)
Job Description

This Superintendent – Healthcare (Light Renovation) role focuses on managing small-scale renovation and maintenance projects within active, occupied healthcare facilities. Typical projects include flooring replacements, finish upgrades, minor roof repairs, and other light construction work that supports ongoing patient care. You will coordinate day-to-day jobsite activities, ensure compliance with healthcare facility requirements, and act as the primary point of contact between the construction team, subcontractors, and healthcare staff. The position combines field supervision with some hands-on work, including building temporary containment tents, assisting with site setup, and supporting field needs to keep projects moving efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful projects in a stable, healthcare-focused environment without the demands of large, ground-up commercial construction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day jobsite activities for small-scale renovation and maintenance projects in active healthcare facilities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the construction team, subcontractors, hospital staff, and internal project teams.
  • Manage and support light renovation scopes such as flooring replacements, finish updates, minor roof repairs, and related construction tasks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with healthcare facility requirements, including safety, cleanliness, infection control measures, and operational protocols.
  • Plan and sequence work to minimize disruption to patient care and clinical operations while maintaining project schedules.
  • Review and work with construction documentation, including RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and field documentation, to keep stakeholders informed and projects on track.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, verify work quality, and support punch list completion to meet project standards.
  • Build and maintain temporary containment tents and other protective measures to separate work areas from active healthcare spaces.
  • Assist with site setup and perform light physical tasks as needed to keep projects progressing efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, healthcare staff, subcontractors, and internal project managers to resolve issues and coordinate activities.
  • Promote and enforce adherence to OSHA and site safety requirements on all job sites.
  • Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork within the project and field teams.
  • Participate in or support required healthcare-specific certifications and trainings related to working in clinical environments.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or light commercial renovations.
  • Basic understanding of construction documentation, including RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and field documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in active healthcare environments with sensitivity to patient care, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Strong communication skills with clients, subcontractors, healthcare staff, and internal project teams.
  • Professional, presentable demeanor suitable for hospital and clinical settings.
  • Willingness and ability to perform light physical work such as building temporary enclosures, site setup, and minor labor tasks.
  • Familiarity with construction practices in commercial or healthcare settings, including coordination with general contractors and subcontractors.
  • Understanding of safety standards and OSHA 30-level safety awareness or equivalent safety mindset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with general contractors or in commercial construction environments.
  • Exposure to healthcare construction processes, including infection control and work in occupied clinical spaces.
  • Interest in obtaining healthcare-specific certifications and trainings to build long-term expertise in the healthcare construction market.
  • Ability to manage punch lists and closeout activities on renovation projects.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple small scopes and daily field documentation.
  • Commitment to accountability, professionalism, and teamwork in a field-based role.
Work Environment

This role operates primarily within active, occupied healthcare facilities on renovation and maintenance projects. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional earlier or later days and some Saturday work as project needs require. The work takes place in fast-paced but controlled renovation settings that prioritize safety, cleanliness, and careful coordination with hospital operations. You will work mostly indoors on renovation tasks such as flooring and finishes, with some limited outdoor work related to roof repairs or exterior access. The environment involves close collaboration with hospital staff, facilities teams, subcontractors, and project managers, combining supervisory responsibilities with hands-on field involvement. Attire must be professional and presentable, appropriate for hospital and clinical settings.
