Electrical Engineer

Design:

• Site Selection and Planning: Determining the optimal location for a substation, considering factors like land availability, environmental impact, and access.
• Electrical Design: Designing the electrical layout, including busbar arrangements, transformer configurations, and protection and control systems.
• Civil and Structural Design: Designing the foundations, structures, and site layout, including grading, drainage, and fencing.
• Equipment Selection and Specification: Choosing the appropriate transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, and other equipment based on voltage levels, load requirements, and safety standards.

Project Management:

• Project Planning and Scheduling: Developing a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Construction Management: Overseeing the construction of the substation, ensuring that it meets design specifications and safety standards.
• Commissioning and Testing: Performing commissioning tests to ensure that the substation is operating correctly and safely before it is put into service.

Protection and Control:

• Fault Studies: Analyzing potential faults in the grid and designing protection systems to isolate and clear them quickly.
• Relay Coordination: Coordinating the settings of protective relays to ensure that they operate correctly and efficiently.
• Control System Design: Designing the control systems that allow operators to monitor and control the substation remotely.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2-5 years’ experience in substation design and engineering of high voltage substation projects is highly preferred
• PMP, EITC and/or P.E. in a related discipline is a plus

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
