Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team, focusing on engineering calculations, drawings, and design for steel fabrication and erection. This role involves developing fabrication drawings, connection details, and bill of materials, while coordinating closely with fabrication shops, field teams, and engineering staff to ensure accuracy, constructability, and timely delivery of projects. The engineer will also provide technical oversight during fabrication and erection to resolve design and shop issues.

• Perform detailed engineering calculations, drawings, and design for access systems, primarily focused on construction hoist and its run-back platform structures.
• Prepare drawing submittals using AutoCAD, Revit, and Autodesk Advance Steel for fabrication and erection purposes.
• Collaborate with branches and field teams to gather comprehensive project details.
• Work on projects varying in size, from smaller initiatives to larger endeavors involving basic to intermediate design responsibilities.
• Conduct research and assist with tasks such as permit applications and material testing.
• Evaluate and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
• Review and approve detailed application drawings to ensure compliance with corporate standards and local regulatory and safety requirements.
• Prepare complete and accurate engineering calculations for various projects independently.
• Provide assistance and feedback to detailers on design issues and develop solutions to complex problems.
• Monitor work schedules to ensure timely completion of work.
• Provide technical support to the sales force and customers.
• Conduct jobsite inspections and occasionally visit construction project sites.

• 0-10 years of Structural Engineering experience.
• Experience with buildings, steel fabrication, or temporary structures.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and structural design.
• Ability to perform and check complex engineering calculations.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Passed or about to take the FE exam.
• Basic understanding of Engineering calculators.
• Proficient in utilizing CAD & 3D model skills for drafting projects using Revit.
• Familiar with finite element analysis and structural analysis software.
• Full knowledge of regulations and codes.

The position is based in Carlstadt, NJ, with a hybrid schedule starting at 4 days in-office and 1 day remote, transitioning to 3 days in-office and 2 days remote once the candidate is productive and comfortable. The office houses about 50-60 people, with a fabrication shop next door employing approximately 150 employees. The work primarily takes place in the office with very limited travel or site visits.

This is a Permanent position based out of Jersey City, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
