Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to oversee project design supervision, manage project execution, ensure structural design integrity, and contribute to business development efforts within the papermill industry. The ideal candidate will work primarily on brownfield projects, effectively managing client relationships and ensuring project success.
Responsibilities
- Develop a plan of work and oversee drawings as required.
- Perform fieldwork, including inspecting and verifying existing plant conditions.
- Design structures and layout new equipment for optimal space and resource use.
- Develop design concepts for equipment and structure installation.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to produce cost-effective projects that meet design intent.
- Verify detailed design compliance with design intent and standards.
- Establish and maintain positive client relationships.
- Lead scope development efforts by interfacing with clients as needed.
- Communicate scope needs to designers or other engineers.
- Obtain quotes for engineering, equipment, material, and services.
- Develop bid packages, lead bid meetings, and evaluate bids.
- Manage procurement and construction activities.
- Coordinate project safety, timing, and other issues.
- Lead checkout and startup activities.
- Control documents generated during the project and issue them to the client for permanent storage.
- Close out projects in the EGS file system.
- Design responsibility for all structural work.
- Provide design guidance and review for design work by others.
- Perform calculations as required.
- Ensure design compliance with applicable codes.
- Stamp structural drawings in AL, FL, and GA.
- Continuously seek opportunities to assist existing clients and develop new client relationships.
- Work with clients to determine project scope, develop EGS estimates, and submit proposals when opportunities align with capabilities.
- Design and CAD expertise.
- Project management skills.
- Structural engineering and design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Experience in the papermill industry, particularly with brownfield projects.
- Ability to stamp structural drawings in AL, FL, and GA.
This role is based in an engineering office, with some daily travel to project sites throughout the Southeastern United States.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Dothan, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
