Position Overview
The Structural Installation Specialist is responsible for the installation, assembly, and modification of structural components on U.S. Department of Defense construction projects. This role supports a wide range of mission-critical facilities including aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, industrial buildings, and relocatable structures.
This is a temporary-to-hire field position with the opportunity to transition to full-time, benefits-eligible employment following a successful 90-day trial period, based on performance, project needs, and compliance with company and DoD requirements. This position will require travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Install structural steel, pre-engineered metal building components, and modular/relocatable structural systems in accordance with project plans and specifications
- Perform layout, alignment, and assembly of columns, beams, bracing, panels, and associated structural elements
- Read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and installation manuals
- Assist with rigging, lifting, and setting of structural members using cranes, lifts, and other equipment
- Coordinate with superintendents, QC personnel, and safety staff to ensure work meets quality and safety standards
- Ensure installations comply with applicable UFCs, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards
- Perform field modifications, adjustments, and repairs as required
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Comply with all site-specific safety requirements, including DoD installation rules
- Travel and deploy to multiple project locations as required by contract needs
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in structural installation, steel erection, or similar construction trades
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with hand and power tools used in structural and metal building installation
- Ability to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Willingness and ability to travel to various DoD installations
- Ability to pass background checks required for access to military installations
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on federal or DoD construction projects
- Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings, aircraft hangars, or relocatable structures
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Forklift, aerial lift, or crane signaling certifications
- Familiarity with quality control and safety documentation requirements on federal projects

- Exposure to varying weather conditions depending on location
- Extended hours, weekend work, or shift work may be required depending on project schedule
- Travel and temporary lodging may be required
