Job Description
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments. Your responsibilities will include collecting, sorting, and decontaminating used equipment, as well as preparing and packing supplies for sterilization. You will be responsible for monitoring and operating sterilization equipment, examining supplies for proper sanitation, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for medical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
- Manually clean supplies of contaminants and remove waste matter.
- Operate and maintain decontamination equipment.
- Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
- Monitor and operate sterilization equipment.
- Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
- Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in sterilization and surgical instrumentation.
- Sterile processing techniques.
- Sterile Processing Technician license or certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in ambulatory, outpatient, or operating room settings.
- Knowledge of decontamination and aseptic techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Preferred certification, but relevant experience is also considered.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Flexibility and reliability.
- Experience in OR, outpatient, or ambulatory environments.
Work Environment
The position operates Monday through Friday: 8am to 4.30pm
Flexibility is highly valued, as the workload can vary based on the number of cases or trays to be sterilized each day, with typically 15 to 30 cases per day.
The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring attention to detail and efficiency.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
