Sr Electrical Designer

We are seeking an experienced Sr Electrical Designer with over 15 years of electrical design experience in the chemical industry. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of NFPA-70 (NEC Codes), NFPA-70E, NFPA-496 & NFPA-497, and have experience in hazardous area classification and applying electrical equipment, devices, and installation for hazardous locations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with other department disciplines on small to large projects.
• Troubleshoot, commission, and provide start-up support for power and control systems.
• Utilize Autocad-19 or later, Brics-Cad, and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
• Engage in 3D modeling related to electrical design, including cable and cable tray routing.
• Design power distribution systems from 480V up to 15KV.
• Design substations, 15KV switchgear, 5KV medium voltage starters/VFDs, and 480V low voltage smart motor control centers.
• Design overhead power line distribution, cable tray systems, and underground duct bank design.
• Design electrical heat trace systems, grounding systems, and lightning protection.
• Create lighting designs for commercial and industrial facilities.
• Work with ABB, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and other variable frequency drives.
• Design auxiliary backup diesel power generators, UPS, and 24VDC systems.
• Design security systems, camera systems, fire alarm systems, and communication systems.

• Proficient in Autocad-19 or later and Brics-Cad.
• Knowledgeable in NFPA-70 (NEC Codes), NFPA-70E, NFPA-496 & NFPA-497.
• Experience in power distribution systems and electrical design in the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in cable and cable tray routing.
• Familiarity with ABB, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and variable frequency drives.
• Ability to design security, fire alarm, and communication systems.

• Self-motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a chemical plant environment.
• Capable of working individually or as part of a project team.

This position requires working in a chemical manufacturing plant and may involve up to 40% travel. The role demands comfort in both individual and team settings, as well as in high-demand environments typical of chemical plants.

This is a Contract position based out of Theodore, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
