Job Title: Sr. CAD Designer

Job Description

The CAD Designer is tasked with developing specific designs using the latest CAD technology to meet customer requirements economically. This role involves providing 2D and 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawing documentation, and advanced design support for the creation of chillers and their subcomponents across multiple projects. The position is primarily onsite at our Rockbridge, VA facility, with some hybrid work schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage complex 3D models using Solid Edge CAD software.
• Lead design projects with minimal input and direction.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to less experienced CAD designers.
• Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, recognizing and resolving design issues independently.
• Support both new and existing product designs.
• Communicate directly with customer engineering/design teams, suppliers, and facilities.
• Create approval drawings, shop floor detailed drawings, and BOMs in Excel, upload drawings to the PDM system, and support the routing process.
• Coordinate a team of designers and drafters.
• Write change notifications to facilitate drawing modifications as per product design needs.
• Familiarity with design requirements, tooling, manufacturing, and assembly operations of a standard production line.

Essential Skills

• Extensive knowledge and experience in Solid Edge CAD software.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms.
• Experience with 3D modeling, sheet metal, HVAC systems, and tolerances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of Chiller Designs or Basic Refrigeration Systems and associated components is a plus.
• Previous experience in SAP is a plus.
• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in design or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• 7-12 years of design experience with an Associate degree, or 10-15 years equivalent design experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5 years design experience.

This is a Permanent position based out of Racine, WI.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
