Job Description

Join a dynamic start-up medical device company as a Principal Electrical Engineer. You will be pivotal in supporting current implantable devices in the field and developing next-generation devices. This role will lead electronic product development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Support product development projects through the full lifecycle, from concept to production transfer, adhering to design controls. Responsibilities include concept generation, schedule creation, identifying resource requirements, developing design requirements, verifying and validating design requirements, and production transfer.
• Manage and execute continuation activities for internal and contract manufacturer changes and projects, either as a project manager or individual contributor.
• Support maintenance of existing devices through technical evaluation of field returns, feedback, and complaints.
• Serve as the technical lead on projects and deliverables that do not require a larger project team, identifying requirements, tasks, schedule, budget, and completing deliverables and documentation with minimal external support.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, including IEC standards, and other product-specific international standards such as ISO.
• Develop and perform, or guide the development and performance of, bench-top testing and verification/validation activities according to applicable standards and product requirements. This includes documenting test protocols and results to meet design control and quality system requirements.
• Participate in Design Assurance activities, including risk assessment and FMEA.
• Provide technical support for product manufacturing, including the development and validation of manufacturing and test processes.
• Support analysis of product and clinical data through direct analysis and development of automated systems to process data.
• Apply engineering knowledge and knowledge of the medical device industry to assist in developing strategic plans for new product development and enhancements to existing products.
• Generate and leverage intellectual property for new therapy and/or clinical use.
• Provide technical supervision and mentorship to lower-level electrical engineers and guidance to other technical personnel, including external contractors.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8 years of experience in medical device development, with active implantable medical device experience preferred.
• Proficiency in developing electrical components and systems.
• Experience with electrical test equipment, including digital multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Expertise in hardware design and development.
• Experience with implantable medical devices and RF communication.
• Capability to generate and utilize intellectual property.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $77.00/hr.
