Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be a key player in expanding world-leading air bearing positioning systems and leading the development of new electro-mechanical and pneumatic motion control devices with sub-micron precision. This role requires research, prototyping, and designing precision motion stages in 3D CAD software, generating models and drawings, and performing analysis, simulation, and studies. The position also involves assisting with prototyping and production builds. Successful candidates will have the ability to design linear and rotary systems across various sizes and performance specifications.

Responsibilities

• Work across departments to implement comprehensive product solutions.
• Engage with customers to understand their requirements and derive solutions.
• Design precision motion stages in 3D CAD software, generating models and drawings.
• Perform analysis, simulation, and studies.
• Assist with prototyping and production builds.
• Document design packages meticulously.
• Maintain regular communication with supervisors about job progress.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the work area.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5 years of experience with air bearings, air bushings, or air spindles.
• 5 years of experience with pneumatic modeling and fluid flow analysis toolsets.
• 5 years of experience with tolerance analysis.
• 5 years (8 years preferred) of experience with mechanical design related to electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge and 5 years of experience in FEA, Heat Transfer, Shock and Vibration.
• Experience in working with customers and partners to gather system-level requirements.
• Experience with robotics is desirable.
• 3D CAD experience; Solidworks is preferred.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Established engineering knowledge in developing analytical solutions to complex problems.
• Experience in teamwork and team building.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $165000.00/yr.
