Job Description

The SCADA/PLC Controls Engineer is tasked with developing and implementing high-availability automation logic for generators, medium-voltage gear, fuel systems, and plant-level SCADA environments within hyperscale data centers. This role requires expertise in programming PLCs, designing SCADA HMI screens, and integrating critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC logic using platforms such as Allen-Bradley and Siemens S7.
• Design SCADA HMI screens, alarm structures, historian tags, and graphics.
• Integrate medium-voltage switchgear, generator controls, fuel systems, and interlocks.
• Conduct blackstart, load-transfer, and failover sequence testing.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Ensure secure SCADA network segmentation and access pathways.
• Perform generator paralleling and medium-voltage transitions.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Strong experience in PLC programming and SCADA development.
• Understanding of Allen-Bradley, Ignition, or Siemens S7.
• Understanding of medium-voltage systems, generator control logic, and redundancy schemes.
• Experience with data centers or mission-critical environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition.
• Familiarity with owner-specific SCADA conventions.

Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote work environment, with occasional onsite visits required in Michigan City, Indiana. All travel and lodging expenses will be covered. The role may require more frequent onsite presence at the beginning of the project, with reduced visits as the project progresses. Travel arrangements provide opportunities to return home on weekends, subject to project scheduling.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
