About the Opportunity

Join a fast-paced, hands-on role supporting the revitalization of New York City’s parks and sidewalks! We’re hiring Junior Resident Engineers to work on exciting NYC Parks Department projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for early-career professionals to gain field experience, grow within the civil engineering or environmental space, and make a visible impact on the city’s green infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Visit multiple project sites daily (up to 10, depending on workflow) to oversee sidewalk reconstruction and tree health initiatives.
• Manage and coordinate with contractors on-site, ensuring work is performed safely and according to plan.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project managers, providing updates and addressing field issues.
• Review contract line items and verify compliance with project specifications.
• Oversee construction activities including saw cutting, excavation, planting, concrete restoration, and punch list back checks.
• Receive daily instructions via email and meet the Superintendent on-site by 7:00 AM.
• Track and record field measurements for pay items (e.g., trees planted, excavation completed).
• Ensure all work is performed at ground level—no climbing or work on active roadways.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors' in Civil Engineering/Construction Management with 1 year of Construction Oversight background OR
• Bachelors' Degree with 2 years of construction management experience

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of plant species and urban landscaping
• Experience working for a landscaper or in a similar outdoor role
• Familiarity with civil engineering and construction oversight practices

Work Environment

• Projects are located throughout the five boroughs, with assignments typically focused in one area.
• Field-based role with early start times (7:00 AM).
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Long-term growth potential in engineering, construction management, or environmental fields.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
