The Building System Management Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle design, documentation, integration, and commissioning support of Building Management Systems (BMS) for hyperscale data center environments. This role requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water topologies, and mission-critical mechanical infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Design and document detailed HVAC controls drawings, schematics, and valve/sensor layouts.
- Create BMS network diagrams, addressing plans, and controller layouts.
- Generate sequences of operation (SOO) for CRAH, CRAC, chilled water pumps, and economizers.
- Build comprehensive BMS point lists including trends, alarms, and writable points.
- Coordinate with mechanical contractors, commissioning teams, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct field verification of controls devices, wiring, controllers, and panels.
- Support FAT/SAT, functional testing, IO checkout, and IST during commissioning.
- Develop clear O&M documentation and as-built controls drawings.
- 5 years of experience with building automation systems or building management systems from design, commission, and turnover.
- Experience with data center or mission-critical builds.
- Background in chilled water systems and white space cooling strategies.
- Proficiency in BACnet/IP, Modbus, and TCP/IP networking.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Bluebeam.
- Proficiency in chillers, coolers, PLC programming, and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience writing advanced SOOs for airflow/thermal optimization is a plus.
This position offers a fully remote work environment unless on-site presence is required. Initial on-site work will be in Michigan City, Indiana, with all travel and lodging expenses covered. As the project progresses, on-site visits will be less frequent. Remote work flexibility allows for returning home on weekends if project permits.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
