Job Title: Quality Test Technician
Job Description

The Quality Test Technician performs independent audits and inspections of Burst House testing operations for large air-cooled products, ensuring all helium and pressure-based leak tests are executed correctly before equipment leaves the facility. This role verifies critical quality checks, maintains data integrity and traceability, and supports continuous improvement by partnering closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams in a complex test lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent audits and inspections of Burst House testing operations for air-cooled products, including helium and pressure-based leak testing.
  • Verify proper execution of leak checks, burst tests, and post-test inspections in accordance with approved work instructions, control plans, and engineering specifications.
  • Execute two-layer verification of critical quality checks by confirming that operators perform required inspections and tests correctly and validating that test results, pass/fail disposition, and rework actions are accurately recorded.
  • Audit test area readiness and compliance, including equipment condition, calibration status, safety interlocks, fixtures, and adherence to standardized work.
  • Identify, document, and escalate nonconformances, test escapes, and process deviations within the quality management system.
  • Verify traceability and data integrity for Burst House testing, including unit identification, test parameters, results, and any re-test requirements.
  • Capture and upload traceability photos and audit evidence for all audited units.
  • Monitor and verify containment activities related to leak failures, burst test failures, and supplied components that impact test performance.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering to communicate audit findings, support root cause analysis and corrective actions, and track the effectiveness of implemented improvements.
  • Report daily Burst House test pass/fail results, audit findings, and nonconformance trends.
  • Support and enforce ISO 9001 quality system requirements and internal audit standards.
  • Perform component or feature verification as required, including inspection of fittings, welds, joints, caps, and labels.
  • Use mechanical aptitude and experience with pneumatic tools to support testing and inspection of very large mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to test equipment, mechanical assemblies, and electrical test setups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership, including support for additional test activities, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, or inspection.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using pneumatic tools and working with mechanical fasteners such as nuts, washers, and bolts in correct order.
  • Experience performing test execution and inspection on mechanical or industrial equipment.
  • Ability to perform independent audits and inspections of testing operations involving helium and pressure-based leak testing.
  • Ability to verify and document leak checks, burst tests, and post-test inspections against work instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, nonconformities, and process deviations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work with test equipment and inspection machines in a production or lab environment.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 35 lbs repeatedly and stand or walk for the majority of the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Comfort working around mechanical equipment, refrigerants, compressed gases, and electrical test setups.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to accurately record test results, pass/fail dispositions, and rework actions in a quality management or production system.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a technical or related field (preferred).
  • Experience in a technical field such as mechanical, electrical, or test engineering support (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software (preferred).
  • Working knowledge and experience with Oracle and SAP systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001.
  • Experience supporting or performing internal audits in a manufacturing or test environment.
  • Experience working with large, complex industrial systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hardware/software smart systems.
  • Familiarity with weldments, environmental and energy-related testing, and certification-driven test environments (preferred).
  • Ability to handle documentation of traceability, including photos, test parameters, and audit evidence.
  • Ability to support root cause analysis and corrective actions as part of continuous improvement activities.
  • Willingness to provide proof of education when required, or to omit education details where appropriate in accordance with hiring process guidelines.
Work Environment

This role is 100% on-site in a large, complex industrial test facility that serves as a headquarters for commercial chiller testing, with both R&D and manufacturing operations on site. The position operates on a first shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday, with core hours around 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and occasional overtime on weekends or after hours based on business needs. The work takes place in five test labs that handle very large systems, including equipment sized to fit on the back of a tractor-trailer. The environment involves frequent standing, walking, and lifting, with regular handling of materials up to 35–50 lbs, and use of ladders and fall protection. Team members work around mechanical equipment, refrigerants, compressed gases, and varying temperatures, as well as large heavy hoses on the ground and high-power electrical testing setups. The role requires consistent adherence to safety procedures, use of personal protective equipment as required, and compliance with ISO 9001 quality system standards. Dress is typical for an industrial test lab and manufacturing environment, focusing on safety, practicality, and compatibility with mechanical and electrical testing activities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
