The Quality Laboratory Technician plays an essential role in ensuring the quality and safety of sweeteners, corn syrups, and sugar products. Working primarily with these products, the technician contributes to the Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions by performing extractions and wetmills, which involve working with liquid products. The role involves both chemistry and microbiology work in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities- Prepare and analyze final product and in-process samples using analytical instruments and wet chemistry techniques.
- Facilitate the plant process flow by providing timely and accurate analysis results.
- Post analysis results into data systems and communicate findings to plant personnel.
- Identify abnormal findings and collaborate with process teams for resolution.
- Conduct final QA/QC of outbound shipments and document results.
- Follow established analysis methodologies.
- Perform basic laboratory equipment maintenance.
- Support other departments with analytical and project-based efforts as needed.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Understand and demonstrate core values while actively participating.
- Support a 24/7 process and work a rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Advance through the skill block system, achieving 4 'operate' skill blocks along with the 'basic' skill block.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A 4-year degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other relevant scientific discipline.
- Ability to prepare and analyze in-process and finished goods using various laboratory methodologies and equipment.
- Experience and understanding with HPLC, GC, AA, NIR, pH, etc.
- Willingness to support a 24/7 process and work a rotating shift.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starting and detail-oriented.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP is a plus.
The role involves working 12-hour shifts, typically 3 days on and 3 days off, rotating between night and day shifts. The schedule may transition into a 2-2-3 pattern. Candidates need to be comfortable standing for extended periods and may wear jeans and a t-shirt to work.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
