Job Description: Quality Engineer III

As a Quality Engineer III, you will be a Sr. leader driving strategic quality initiatives and advancing our Quality Management System (QMS). This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, influencing cross-functional teams, and shaping the future of quality excellence. You will act as a deputy to the Quality Manager, lead critical audits, and champion continuous improvement efforts that directly impact customer satisfaction and business performance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as assistant to the QA Manager, leading meetings and supporting departmental planning.
• Drive QMS harmonization and best practice standardization across sites.
• Act as site lead for customer audits and regulatory inspections, including compliance with AS9100 and other standards.
• Define and track strategic quality goals and KPIs aligned with business objectives.
• Facilitate multi-disciplinary problem-solving for systemic issues such as scrap, warranty returns, and field failures.
• Develop and implement supplier quality programs, including audits and performance improvement plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical development sessions.
• Support design for manufacturability (DFM), PFMEA, and process validation during product development.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field.
• 7 years of progressive quality experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 standards.
• Proven success in leading audits, managing customer/supplier relationships, and driving measurable improvements.
• ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) or ability to obtain within one year.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, Corrective Action, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, and Quality Control.
• Experience in CNC Machining and Quality Auditing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mundelein, IL.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Mundelein,IL.
