Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our team in a dynamic chemical production laboratory. The role involves performing wet chemistry testing, gas chromatography (GC), viscosity, and color testing to ensure the quality of our final products. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with concentrated chemicals and have prior laboratory experience. This position offers the opportunity for cross-training across different product lines and labs.

PAY - $27-$28/hour

Responsibilities

• Perform wet chemistry testing, GC testing, viscosity, and color testing in a production lab.
• Follow established methods to test and release final products.
• Cross-train across three different product lines and labs.
• Conduct specific tests such as LOH, specific gravity, and melting point.
• Manage samples and test results using Sample Manager and SAP systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols while working with chemical substances.

Essential Skills

• 1-3 years of lab experience in any industry, including pharma or chemical.
• Proficiency in gas chromatography and basic wet chemistry testing.
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and learn new testing standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a chemical industry lab is highly preferred.
• Ability to work with oily substances and in environments with strong odors.
• Flexible and adaptable to learning and operating in multiple labs.
• Strong preference for candidates without a Master's Degree, but open to discussion.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a production lab with areas designated for different testing processes. The plant is spread out, with samples brought to the lab for testing. Uniforms are provided due to exposure to oily substances and strong smells. The lab is undergoing equipment updates, ensuring a mix of new and older technologies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East St. Louis, IL.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
