Job Title: Quality Control Electrical Distribution Designer

Job Description

The individual will be responsible for performing quality control inspections on electrical overhead and underground distribution design systems for electric utility customers. The individual will either correct the issues they identified in the design during their quality control check OR set and manage expectations for the Designer that submitted the design to make the needed corrections by a set date. This will be a hybrid position with offices located across Michigan and flexibility in the number of days worked at home and in the office.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control checks of distribution designs before submission to the power utility client.
• Correct identified issues in designs during quality control checks or manage expectations for the Designer to make necessary corrections.
• Potentially lead the Quality Control team based on the volume of checks performed.
• Collaborate with the Utility Energy Division to support distribution and reliability work.

Essential Skills

• Power Distribution Design
• Quality control
• Electrical engineering
• Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
• Distribution construction & design standards
• QA/Quality Assurance or QC/Quality Control

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with electric utilities such as Consumers Energy, DTE, AEP, Direct Energy, Atlantic Energy, Great American Power, Horizon Power and Light, Duke Energy, NIPSCO
• Experience with electric utility consulting firms like Sigma Technologies, Pike, Orbital, Metro Engineering Solutions, Burns and Mac
• Experience in writing process standards
• Engineering Intern (EIT) certification

Work Environment

Offices are available in Traverse City, Gaylord, Bay City, Grand Rapids, Flint, and other locations. This hybrid position offers flexibility with the number of days working from home. Work is directly connected to the Utility industry, Construction Services, Site Development, Survey, Storm Water, Transportation, and Waste Water. Employees receive one week vacation and six holidays during their initial nine months, transitioning to two weeks vacation, six sick days, and nine holidays once direct.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
