Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will be responsible for using micrometers and calipers to measure incoming instruments, ensuring they meet required specifications. The technician will review drawings and instruments to confirm product alignment, report on part conditions, and identify any non-conformances. The role involves updating the QMS system and paper documents for audits, utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and handling product returns and customer complaints. This position supports regulatory compliance efforts and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Measure incoming instruments using micrometers and calipers to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Review drawings and instruments to verify product conformity.
- Report on conditions of parts and identify non-conformances.
- Review customer drawings for custom OEM orders to ensure products meet specifications.
- Update QMS system and paper documents for audits.
- Utilize Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in all processes.
- Receive and unpack incoming shipments, verify quantities, and assess condition of materials.
- Perform inspections on raw materials and finished goods using technical drawings and specifications, including dimensional checks, functional testing, and visual assessments.
- Record inspection outcomes in quality systems and complete necessary documentation.
- Flag any non-conforming items.
- Apply product identification markings using laser or chemical etching methods.
- Clean and neutralize items as needed.
- Handle product returns and customer complaints by evaluating quality concerns and coordinating necessary repairs or rework.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts by preparing documentation and maintaining relevant databases.
- Follow all applicable quality and safety standards, including industry-specific regulations and internal procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the quality control area.
- Monitor inventory of quality-related supplies and request replenishments as needed.
- Provide training on inspection procedures and assist with onboarding new team members.
- Uphold the organization’s quality objectives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with micrometers and calipers.
- Quality assurance and quality control experience.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Quality Assurance experience in medical devices preferred, open to other industries.
Work Environment
The work environment operates on a standard schedule from Monday through Friday, with flexible start times between 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM, and shifts typically ending by 6:00 PM. The position involves collaboration with fellow inspectors and cross-functional team members in a shared inspection area, requiring strong teamwork and attention to detail. The technician will report to the Quality Manager and work within a team that includes quality and operations supervisors, engineers, and inspectors. The role operates alongside shipping, receiving, labeling, and laser marking personnel, totaling 8–10 team members. The position is best suited for candidates located near Emerson for a manageable commute of no more than 45 minutes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northern New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
