About the Role
The Lead Quality Assurance Inspector will be responsible for ensuring the quality of manufacturing processes and products through rigorous inspections and tests. The position involves expertise in quality systems, including CMM programming, QMS software management, and ERP quality module oversight. This is a machine shop environment focused on fabricated components and mechanical assemblies, not medical lab inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- CMM Programming & Inspection: Program and operate CMM for precision inspections, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications.
- Quality System Management: Oversee compliance with SOPs, work instructions, and GMPs while managing QMS software for CAPAs, NCPs, and inspection plans.
- Production Audits: Conduct QA audits, inspect assemblies, and document non-conformities with recommendations for corrective action.
- ISO Audit Support: Assist with ISO 9001:2015 internal audits and pursue certification as an auditor.
- Training & Mentorship: Train production operators and mentor QA inspectors to uphold quality standards.
- Documentation & Analysis: Prepare reports for audits and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Process Documentation: Create detailed work instructions and document inspection processes from start to finish.
- End-to-End Inspection Oversight: Manage inspection from first piece through final approval, making corrections as needed.
What You’ll Bring
Experience:
- 5 years in quality assurance with a focus on precision parts inspection.
- Proven CMM programming skills and advanced knowledge of quality inspection tools.
- Experience working with a tolerance of 0.001 with cast iron and larger assemblies
Skills:
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, grinding, and EDM.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple departments including Purchasing, Engineering, Assembly, and Machine Shop.
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to design and implement efficient workflows.
Education: Technical certifications are a plus.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Split time between office and machine shop environment with exposure to loud noise, metal shavings, and cutting fluids.
- Requires lifting 30–50 pounds and performing repetitive tasks with manual dexterity.
- Must be comfortable standing for the majority of the shift.
