Responsibilities- Purchase a wide variety of items and services, verifying authorizations and account numbers, and processing associated paperwork.
- Ensure best price, quality, and delivery for all MRO purchases.
- Maintain compliance with the Approved Supplier List in accordance with internal procedures.
- Generate purchase orders using the MRP system for all applicable inventory items and manage all purchasing functions, including expediting, returns, obtaining quotes, and supplier sourcing.
- Create and apply standard contract templates.
- Develop and maintain good supplier relations.
- Plan, schedule, track, and expedite materials through the system.
- Maintain minimum stock levels for continuous operation by generating reorder lists.
- Understand and use bills of materials, job numbers, and routing stages for production and material availability.
- Maintain a master materials plan in accordance with the production schedule.
- Interface with Production, Quality Control, and Facilities to plan material usage.
- Ensure effective communication flow to the Warehouse for maintaining inventory levels.
- Provide materials orientation to new employees.
- Oversee, direct, and mentor junior purchasing employees.
- Drive strategic sourcing projects and initiatives to improve cost, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform job duties in a compliant and ethical manner according to healthcare laws and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
- Five or more years of experience in materials management (purchasing, planning, inventory, and production control).
- Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS Certification preferred.
- Experience with fundamental cost/value analysis.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Knowledge of cGMP’s, ISO, and FDA requirements is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proven ability to interface effectively with suppliers.
- Knowledge of computerized inventory and MRP systems, word processing, and spreadsheet/database software.
- Experience with SAP (MM, PP, FI/CO), procurement (P2P), and sourcing in pharmaceuticals.
The position is based in Clayton, NC, with a hybrid reporting expectation. The role involves sitting most of the time, with occasional standing and walking. The physical requirements include the ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, pull, lift, finger, grasp, speak, listen, and understand verbal and written communication. The environment includes working in narrow aisles and experiencing temperature changes.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.36 - $39.36/hr.
