Job Description
We are seeking a talented Formulation Chemist to join our team, focused on developing and optimizing powder coating formulations. The ideal candidate will balance responsibilities between quality control (QC) testing and research and development (R&D) initiatives, adapting to the evolving departmental structure.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize powder coating formulations to meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- Support QC testing and troubleshooting of production batches.
- Perform color matching using colorimeters and software tools.
- Conduct particle size analysis and other standard powder coating tests.
- Collaborate with the Lab Manager to balance responsibilities between QC and development.
- Adapt to evolving departmental structure as QC and R&D functions grow and separate.
- Powder Coating Formulation Expertise (3–5 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of color science, instrumentation, and analytical testing.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a blended QC/R&D environment.
- Flexible mindset – comfortable shifting between development and QC tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to work with a variety of technical personalities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Open to candidates with no formal degree but strong hands-on lab experience.
- Supervisory experience is a plus but not required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
