Job Description
This position is for a phlebotomist supporting a family medical practice, providing safe and accurate blood collection for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatric individuals. You will work largely independently and play an important role in supporting high-quality patient care in an office-based clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws for approximately 20 patients per day in a family medical practice setting.
- Work independently to collect blood samples using 21, 22, and 23 gauge needles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provide compassionate and professional care to patients ranging from approximately 15 years of age through geriatric populations.
- Label and handle specimens accurately to support proper laboratory processing and diagnostic testing.
- Follow established clinical procedures and safety protocols to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and clinical staff to support a smooth patient flow.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated phlebotomy experience, including independent venipuncture.
- Proficiency using 21, 22, and 23 gauge needles for blood collection.
- Ability to work independently and manage a steady daily patient volume of around 20 patients.
- Experience working with adolescent through geriatric patient populations.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate specimen labeling and handling.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills with patients and clinical staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in a family practice or outpatient clinical environment is an advantage.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and reassuring with individuals who may be anxious about blood draws.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office-style family medical practice environment. The position involves direct, in-person interaction with patients throughout the day in a clinical setting. You will work with standard phlebotomy equipment, including 21, 22, and 23 gauge needles and related specimen collection supplies. The workday typically involves a consistent flow of patients, requiring steady focus, professionalism, and adherence to clinical procedures in a clean, organized, and patient-centered environment. Dress is expected to be professional and appropriate for a medical office setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
