Phlebotomist (Hospital & Clinic Float)

Job Summary

We are seeking a flexible, motivated Phlebotomist to provide coverage across both hospital and clinic settings, with occasional assignments in specimen processing. This is a dynamic float role ideal for candidates who enjoy variety, mobility, and teamwork. The position requires the ability to adapt quickly while working multiple locations, departments, and shifts, including weekends and weekday on-call coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and blood collection in hospital and outpatient clinic environments
• Process laboratory specimens as assigned
• Float between multiple locations, including:
  • South Bay (Otay)
  • East County (El Cajon)
  • Central San Diego (Point Loma to Carmel Valley)
• Provide coverage across departments, including the Emergency Department (ED)
• Accurately document collection and patient information using EMR systems (Certa & EPIC)
• Collaborate with clinical and laboratory teams to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care

Required Qualifications

• Active California CPT license (required)
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood collection techniques
• Experience using EMR systems, preferably Certa and EPIC
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including:
  • Weekends
  • Weekday on-call shifts
  • Variable start times
• Comfortable working in both hospital and clinic settings
• Dependable, adaptable, and patient-focused

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of phlebotomy experience preferred
• (Externs eligible for training are welcome to apply)
• Pediatric phlebotomy experience a plus
• Bilingual skills are helpful but not required

Work Environment & Schedule

• Fast-paced, highly collaborative healthcare environment
• Assignments may be scheduled or last-minute based on staffing needs
• Shift start times range from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with evenings extending up to 11:00 PM
• Work takes place across diverse inpatient and outpatient clinical settings

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in San Diego,CA.
