Responsibilities- Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Label specimens accurately and centrifuge as required.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.
- Update patient information efficiently.
- Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
- Understand and fulfill all physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test orders.
- Ensure 100% accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature and integrity.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in blood specimen storage.
- Proficiency in CPT coding.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
