Phlebotomist II

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to support and perform various duties related to specimen collection, troubleshooting, and workflow recommendations in a laboratory setting.

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand and comply with all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
• Follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge of specimen collection including pediatric and geriatrics.
• Experience in troubleshooting and training within a lab setting.

The position is based in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, requiring adherence to established procedures and protocols. The role involves interaction with patients and handling specimens with care and precision, following safety and regulatory guidelines. The work environment necessitates proficiency in technology and software such as Microsoft Office Suite.

This is a Contract position based out of Petaluma, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Petaluma,CA.
