Job Description
The role of an Intake Specialist supports the Patient Assistance Program (PAP) by initially triaging patient applications. This includes data entry and coordination of work through the appropriate channels as determined by established business rules.
Responsibilities
- Complete the intake process of all applications into the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM).
- Associate and tag all images to the patient, and enter all information including patient demographic information, physician information, drug information, and relevant application data such as income, household, and insurance information into the CRM.
- Conduct an initial assessment of applications for missing information and complete the missing information patient outreach process to obtain required data.
- Complete the initial assessment of simplified applications.
- Identify the appropriate workflow based on business rules.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure processes are followed according to business rules and policies.
- Ensure all patient cases are documented in the CRM in accordance with all business rules and policies.
- Conduct renewal and year-end recertification processes as determined.
- Assist with special projects within the job scope to improve reimbursement optimization when requested by management.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
Essential Skills
- Experience in insurance verification and pharmacy claims.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; college or a 2-year program is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience within an office or administrative setting.
- Exposure to core insurance knowledge (Medical and Pharmacy Benefit) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- High-quality customer service skills.
- Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Pharmacy tech certifications or education are not required.
Work Environment
The work environment combines both individual and group settings. The role is based at 1 N Waukegan Road AP5 North Chicago, Illinois, working 5 days a week, 8.5 hours a day. The hours open are 7am to 7pm, and new hires typically start with the later shift but must be open to flexibility. During the year, mandatory overtime may be required up to 10 hours a week.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
