Microbiology Lab Technician

Join our dynamic and fast-paced microbiology lab, where your primary role will involve performing essential laboratory support functions rather than analysis. You will be integral in maintaining lab efficiency and safety while adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard operating procedures.

• Stock shelves and manage chemical inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness by sweeping floors and cleaning workspaces.
• Test pH levels and balances.
• Register samples for testing orders, which includes weighing, diluting, incubating samples, and testing for pathogens.
• Autoclave and clean glassware, ensuring a safe and orderly workstation.
• Provide documentation support as needed.
• Communicate effectively within a small laboratory team to prioritize tasks.
• Ensure adherence to safety, laboratory, and company SOPs to prevent contamination.

• BA/BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related degree (consideration given to non-science degrees).
• Completion of at least two microbiology or biology laboratory courses.
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn, verified by references.

• Experience in retail, customer service, or serving roles is valued for skills in time management and teamwork.
• Familiarity with autoclaving, SOPs, ISO standards, and microbiology.

This is a 100% laboratory position within an outsourced microbiology testing lab, responsible for diverse testing beyond dairy products. You will spend the majority of your day on your feet in a controlled environment to avoid contamination. The dress code includes a full smock, lab glasses, lab shoes, jeans, and a lab coat, similar to a low-level clean room. The shift is Tuesday through Saturday or Monday through Friday, with rotating start times between 8 am and 11 am. Once trained, expect to work 2 to 3 Saturdays per month. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St Paul, MN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
